The short version

You pay us monthly to make your computer harder to scam and to give you a real person to call. We do the setup on our bench, keep the protective pieces working, and answer the phone. We are not antivirus, we cannot promise you will never be targeted, and we cannot get back money you have already sent someone. It is a recurring monthly charge, and you can cancel any time by phone, email, or in person — no contract, no fee, no explanation required.

The rest of this page says the same thing more carefully. If the two ever seem to disagree, the detailed sections below control.

1. Who you are agreeing with

“We,” “us,” and “FastTech” mean FNS Computer Technology, LLC, a Florida limited liability company doing business as FastTech Computer Repair Center, at 2320 Tamiami Trail, Suite 7, Port Charlotte, FL 33952. “You” means the person who starts a plan or brings in a computer for service.

“FastTech Shield” (also called “FNS Shield”) means the whole service described on this site: the bench setup, the ongoing plan, the phone support, and the browser extension.

2. What you agree to by using the service

Starting a plan, paying an invoice, or leaving a computer with us for a Shield setup means you accept these terms and the Privacy Notice. If you do not accept them, don’t start a plan — and tell us, so we can undo a setup that’s already been done.

You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter into a contract. If you are setting up a plan for a family member’s computer, you are responsible for the plan and for having their permission to let us work on the machine.

3. What the service includes

Depending on your plan, some or all of the following:

  • Bench setup. Roughly 45 minutes on our bench, once per machine: setting your computer up with a filtered internet connection designed to block known scam and malware sites, removal of the remote-access tools already on the machine — including the hidden pieces that let someone reconnect later — browser cleanup, a check that nothing is still hiding, and our number on a sticker where you’ll see it. This is part of every plan, not a Shield Complete exclusive.
  • The filtered connection. Set up as part of the same bench visit, it is designed to turn away sites on the known-scam and malware lists it uses, for as long as your plan is active.
  • A person to call. Our direct number, whenever something looks wrong. If you’re not sure whether what you’re seeing is a scam, ask us — we will tell you, and we will not charge you for the question.
  • The browser extension, included at no extra cost and installable today. See section 6.
  • Shield Complete plans also include the desktop watchdog described on the plans page — it watches for a new remote-access tool being opened and stops it before anyone can connect. It is included at no extra cost, installed at your bench visit.

Every plan is sold in seats, and every seat covers exactly one computer. Today that is a billing rule rather than a technical one: the software does not yet refuse a second computer. Seat-to-computer locking in the software itself is in progress — the server side is built, and both programs pick it up in coming updates. We ask you to buy a seat per computer, and we will take you at your word. Shield Browser — Family bundles three seats on one plan; every other plan is one seat. Additional computers are added as extra seats. Seats are for computers in your household, not devices belonging to a business or to people at another address.

4. What the service is not

We would rather be blunt here than have you find out later.

  • It is not antivirus and does not replace it. Keep running Windows Security or whatever you already have.
  • It does not monitor your bank accounts, your email, your passwords, or your money.
  • It cannot recover money you have already sent to someone. If that has happened, call your bank first, then the FTC, then us.
  • It cannot promise you will never be targeted or never be fooled. No service can. Scams change weekly, and the last line of defense is always a person deciding not to call the number on the screen.
  • It does not stop you from overriding it. If you choose to dismiss a warning, install a remote-access tool, or let someone connect to your computer, the service will not physically prevent you.

5. Price, billing, and cancellation

Monthly plans are $10 (Shield Browser — Single — a limited-time promotional price; regularly $19. What Square charges is $10 a month for as long as you keep that plan — it does not go up later. We can take the promotional link down for new customers), $29 (Shield Browser — Family, 3 seats), $39 (Shield Complete — Single — a founding price, locked in for as long as you keep your plan; the standard price is $49), and $39 per additional seat (Shield Complete — Extra Seat). Paying yearly instead of monthly costs ten times the regular monthly price — two months free compared to paying the regular month-to-month rate. Prices are in US dollars and are the full amount charged — no tax is added. You can start a plan two ways: online, through the Square checkout link on each plan (see what it costs) — you enter your own card on Square’s own payment page, and we never see or handle the card number — or by phone at 941-477-8324, where a member of our staff sets it up with you and reads back the charge before taking your card.

The $79 Shield Setup is a separate, dedicated visit at the shop for installing and activating the software described in section 3 later — a new computer, adding the desktop program to an existing Complete plan outside your initial setup, or a reinstall after a reset. Installing what your plan includes at your initial bench visit — the browser extension for everyone, the desktop program too on Shield Complete — is already covered at no extra charge, instead of you doing it yourself with an emailed sign-in link. It is never required. Our staff waive it at the counter when you pay for a plan a full year up front — it is not automatic, so mention it if you’re paying annually and it isn’t already reflected on your invoice.

It is a recurring charge. Plans bill through Square — monthly or yearly, whichever you chose — at the stated amount, and renew automatically every billing period until you cancel. Your card is kept on file with Square so the plan can renew automatically. If you sign up online, Square’s own checkout page tells you this before you pay. If you sign up by phone, our staff tell you the same thing out loud before we take your card — because a surprise recurring charge on an older customer’s card is exactly the pattern the people who scam them use. We do not store your card number ourselves — Square does. See the Privacy Notice.

Cancelling: any time. No contract, no term, no cancellation fee. Cancel by phone (941-477-8324), by email (support@fasttechpc.com), or in person — whichever is easiest. We will never require you to come in, and we will never require you to explain why. A person processes it and confirms with you by phone or email. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for (the month or the year); we do not prorate partial periods.

Cancelling does not undo the bench work already done on your computer. What stops is the managed filtering and the extension license.

Refunds:

  • 30 days, first charge, any plan, no reason required. Call within 30 days of your first charge and we refund that charge (the month or the year, whichever you paid) in full.
  • If you prepaid a year and had the $79 Shield Setup waived, and you cancel inside 30 days, we refund the year and do not bill you the $79 setup you didn’t pay. We would rather absorb the bench time than have you feel trapped.
  • The $79 Shield Setup, once performed, is non-refundable whether or not it was waived — it is labor, and it was performed. If you are unhappy with the work itself, bring it back and we redo it.
  • Later months are not refunded, because the service was provided — but you are never locked into the next one.
  • If we billed you in error, we fix it in full, without argument.

If a payment fails, we’ll try to reach you by phone or email. If the plan stays unpaid, we pause the service — including revoking the extension license — until it’s paid or you cancel. The bench work already done stays done either way.

Price changes: if we ever change what you pay, we will tell you before the new price takes effect. If you don’t want it, cancel before then — no fee, as always.

6. The browser extension

The extension is included with every plan at no extra charge. It is finished, tested, and live in the Chrome Web Store — see the status page. The in-browser blocking it performs is what the Shield Browser plans are named for, and it is what those plans deliver today, alongside the bench setup and telephone support described in Section 3.

While your plan is active we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to run the extension on the computers your plan covers. You may not resell it, share your license with people outside your household, or attempt to defeat its licensing.

The license is enforced by a signed token stored on your device and checked offline. If your plan ends, we add that license to a signed revocation list and your extension stops protecting within about six hours. See how it works for the mechanics.

The extension’s detection rules are our own work and change over time as scams change. We may add, alter, or retire a rule without notice when doing so makes the product catch more scams or produce fewer false alarms.

7. What we need from you

  • Keep the email address and phone number on your account current — it’s how we send sign-in links and reach you about your plan.
  • Don’t undo the setup. If you or someone else removes the filtered connection or reinstalls a remote-access tool, the protection is gone until we redo it.
  • Tell us if you think you’ve been scammed, even if you’re embarrassed. Especially then. Fast beats tidy.
  • Have the legal right to let us work on any computer you bring in.
  • Back up anything irreplaceable before handing us a machine. We are careful, but bench work touches software, and no shop can guarantee data.

8. Warranty disclaimer

We provide the service with reasonable skill and care, and we stand behind our bench work. Beyond that, and to the fullest extent Florida law allows, the service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Specifically, we do not warrant that the service will block every scam, that the extension will flag every malicious page or never flag a legitimate one, that the filtered connection will be uninterrupted, or that any part of it will be error-free.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent Florida law allows, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, for lost data, or for money you lose to a third party — including a scammer — even where the service failed to warn you.

Some of these limits may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for willful misconduct, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If a court finds any part of this section unenforceable, the rest still applies.

10. Suspending or ending service

You can cancel any time (section 5). We may end or suspend a plan if payment fails and we can’t reach you, if someone abuses our staff, if the service is being resold or shared outside the household, or if we stop offering the service at all — in which case we give at least 30 days’ notice and refund any month you’ve paid for but not received.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we’ll email the address on your account at least 30 days before it takes effect, and the “last revised” date at the top will change. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version. If you don’t, cancel — that’s what the no-fee cancellation is for.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts serving Charlotte County, Florida, and we both consent to those courts.

Before filing anything, please call us. Almost everything that has ever gone wrong here was fixed by a phone call.
